Whoever this is...thank you.
I'm tired of fighting the same bloody fight. If this is the way it's going to be, why bother in the first place? Trading evils wasn't what I had in mind.

Um, Harry? Of all the people I thought would get this, you were perhaps the one I expected to have the least impact on. It's not that, I mean... well you're Harry Potter! It's just that I had expected the view of the average person would be different from somewhere who has been there and done it, as it were.

I guess it's too much to think that there's anyone out there who doesn't recognize my handwriting, huh?
Hello, Anthony. Been a while.
I'm just full of surprises, I guess. Don't trust everything you read, hear, know or think you know about me. You'd be amazed at how much is wrong. Not to mention, maybe your view isn't so far off from someone who's been there, done that.
Hehe. Have I told you lately how much I love your rants?
And you never answered my answer, Anthony. You have wards up on your home, right? Terry doesn't. Merlin, I worry about him. Blitz is going to get him killed one of these days.
Good. At least I don't have to worry about you. And don't say anything about you not being a target. Just let me be all whimpery and irrational until I can pull myself back together and be sane.

A pleasant surprise to recognise your rational argument in this normally insipid booklet this morning, Mr Goldstein.
You are correct, Greyback is a monster unique unto himself. I find it ironic that the Ministry, almost as soon as the Dark Lord was vanquished, set about to create their Peaceful Utopia using his preferred tools.
I understand you have accepted apprenticeship with Alvero. Congratulations. Very few chooses this path. I was surprised not to see Alvero in Romania a few weeks ago?

Hello Professor. I suppose that you would know more than most about the ad-hoc approach to society's problems tht the ministry has. Yes it's the lesser of two evils we find ourself lumped with led by the ever-changing face of the evil of two lessers.
As for potions, I've always enjoyed them, not even Calculus could crush it out of me. His academic activities have been fewer in number in recent years owing to his age (actually I wanted to go to the conference myself, but couldn't afford it). He was reluctant to take on an apprentice but the workload of running a shop will be beyond him one day, he's no alchemist after all, and it will then fall upon me to take over the good name of his business and make a living for myself. I suppose that's one of the reasons why he's so hard on me, worse than you even I hope you don't find that too insulting but you're not the hardest taskmaster there is. But our professional relationship has been taking turns for the better. Lately he's been trying to get me to mess up some of the more challenging

I cannot argue that - or rather, could, but have no desire to do so.
It is a great shame you could not attend the conference! Why did Alvero not send you if he did not wish to attend himself? The man is getting on in years, indeed, which is why he was losing business to me. Remember that, Goldstein, when the shop is yours! The moment you stop hungering for knowledge, those younger and more inventive than you - those willing to take risks and try new and better combinations - will devour you.
Ah, I would have been 'worse than me', too, Goldstein, if you were making potions to be sold with my name attached. Just ask June Connors

Thankyou for the offer Professor. I would love to talk shop sometime. I find it odd to hear you talking with such zeal and passion about potions. Maybe I'm too used to Calculus, but it's nice to hear somebody else speak about the pursuit of knowledge in a similar fashion to my own views. But as for idiocy in your classroom... Professor Are you meaning to tell me all those scowls and disapproving looks were actually some kind of tough love? I'm touched!

Goldstein?
Aye, mate. And the paperwork at the MoM? 'Tis thin as the protection from their feeble Registry, which binds by bloodlines and sympathies not acts or threats and has yet to tether the killer amoungst us.
Private to Seamusgood_as_goldyJuly 21 2006, 02:20:37 UTC
Aye Seamus, not all the people dangerous to the ministry are dangerous to the rest of us. Fools like Umbridge help politicians feel safe, but they hurt more than just the people they deem dangerous. Blacklisting hurts families, communities, and entire cultures. Just ask my anscestors.

Anthony,
Aye, mate! Mine as well.
Here's to 'em! Survivors the lot!
Glad to see there's more than just a bloody Irishman against the short sighted eejits.
Come have a drink with me, mate! We'll solve the world's problems one glass at a time! At least the drinks will be straight, unlike the cute hoors at the MoM. You'll find me behind the bar at The Leaky Caldron.
