There's still a small glimmer of hope for our country. ( There's hope where there's humor. )

(Pardon me if this is being inappropriately divisive, but could it be that this is the one time McCain outperformed Obama?!)

I don't know. I really felt that Obama's delivery was smoother. McCain seemed to stumble at a couple of key moments (not that Obama's delivery was flawless).

Either way, I laughed out loud at some of the things both our candidates said.

Yeah, Obama's speech is still smoother, although something about his delivery--the pauses, I guess--made it sound at least as scripted as McCain, perhaps more. I think the main factor for me was McCain's timing. Somehow it just worked better, but maybe that's low expectations talking.

There was the moment (right after he had the line about spilling his "soy chai latte on his shih tzu") where Obama had a look on his face that said "
Who wrote this?"

I have to agree with Dr. Deleto. I think McCain did slightly better. Particularly in his introduction of Obama. Not that Obama wasn't good, but he seemed not quite 100%.

Yeah, someone wrote him a tongue-twister with that shih-tzu line.

I thought so, too, and I'm quite strongly supporting "that one".

(It did feel a bit like a very gracious concession speech at the end, to be fair. But I do feel like McCain will lose this election with some graciousness, which I don't think my side did a good job at in 2004.)
