I'm glad I saw so many people out voting this morning. It made me feel good to vote - and to see so many. However, I was truly disappointed in someone today.
I was standing outside the poll talking with one of the candidates for Board of Ed in our county (she's also our neighbor) and a woman walked up dressed to the 9's in her designer suit, perfectly coiffed hair and gold earrings walked over to an Obama/Biden sign, picked it up like she was touching something dirty, and threw it down on the ground. I was utterly appalled at this behavior. She may have been dressed classy, but she sure wasn't acting it!
Now, I don't really care about your political affiliation. I truly believe and practice acceptance and tolerance of all people. I do not judge what side your vote comes down on, but this was totally uncalled for. Regardless of who you want to win, everyone has the right to put up their own sign and campaign! I stood the sign back up and looked around. Even the group of young republicans holding McCain/Palin signs looked astonished. Had it been a McCain/Palin sign I would have stood it back up as well.
Was that REALLY necessary? Couldn't she have just expressed her distaste for the man by voting against him, knowing in her heart that she made her choice?
This was the first year I didn't bring my children with me to vote. I usually do. But I'm glad I didn't because I don't think they needed to see that. I was, and still am, disgusted at this woman's behavior.
