The Captain America thing.

It's a bit heavy handed, but it's quite an interesting way of exploring how America has tipped into fascism over the last 15 or so years, no?

A Captain America for the post-Patriot act era?

It could if it didn't contradict the previous exploration in Civil War ten years ago...

Also, it's just a stunt to take all the attention away from DC's Rebirth and it worked.

I'm sure there will be some explanation as to why it's not what it seems.

Ha, but yes, you're absolutely bang-on about that aren't you. :) Rebirth what? Rebirth who? Yeah, they played a blinder there didn't they.

Although someone on Twitter did make me realize that the MCU made a point of equating HYDRA with Nazis through the first season of Agents of SHIELD. Then, especially this past year or so, they started making HYDRA into more of an evil Illuminati that's spanned centuries...which backs up their claim that they have been planning this for a while. Then, they must have decided the Rebirth launch was the perfect time to finally do it.

They barely mentioned Nazis at all in AoS did they. Nor Peggy Carter for that matter. Just lots of evil Russians.

It does sound pretty fucking horrible. And has the faintest reek of desperation to it too.

Are DC sales not doing well or something?

DC sales are not doing well. They even tried tv tie-in series.

However, I am still looking forward to reading Rebirth...I'll be picking up the 81 page comic on Monday and I'm already subscribed to the new Wonder Woman series by Greg Rucka...his work is awesome.

The tv shows seem to be the one area where DC franchises are doing well. (Although there's not that many people watch them. And it's probably the same people watching all of Arrow/Flash/Legends/Supergirl.)

And, yeah, I dunno. I've read a few of the New 52 titles now, and really none of them leapt off the page as being amazing.
