I saw an interesting documentary last night about the Syrian civil war. And talking about the failures of the West.
And they articulated an argument for why we should have gotten involved by supporting and arming the rebels fighting against Assad that I'd never heard before. And was actually quite compelling. I wish I'd heard it at the time.
The argument was that if we, as in the West, noteably America, had armed the rebel movement then we would have been in charge of guiding the evolution of that movement. We didn't, and instead ISIS were able to take over the movement and guide it in their extremist direction.
And I thought that was actually quite a good argument for intervention.
