Blasted Pollsters

Jun 11, 2010 10:02

You may recollect that I was polled by a Democratic candidate for County executive back in April. It was officially a 'general' poll but the questions made it clear who paid for it, the pollster was incompetent, the questions were leading and several of the questions made it clear that 1) being Jewish is a bad thing; and 2) not being Protestant or Catholic is far worse than being Jewish and disqualifies you from the poll. But not until after you've taken the whole thing.

Well, I got polled again last night. Whoever they were, they called the house 3 times while I was at work and again while I was at the gym. When they called for the 5th time in one day, I figured the only way I'd ever get rid of them was to answer their questions. It was on the primary election for County Exec again. And they insisted on giving me a lengthy explanation of what a primary was, even after I told them I majored in pol sci. At one point they asked me if I used the internet at least once a week (!?!) I answered "I was on it while we were talking." Them: "So you use the Internet?" *head desk* And they were on a cell/wireless that dropped every 3rd word, and would only accept specific answers. "Hell yes" was not acceptable. It must be 'probably', 'maybe' or 'unlikely'. No outright offensive questions this time, but if I get called again, I'm telling them no. And if you call me again, I'm reporting you for harassing us.

It's enough to make me unregister to vote.
