Diggin' On Summer!

It's been awhile since I posted one of these. Time for another! And to make up for my lax in posting these, I will be uploading a whopping SEVEN songs, plus a bonus track!

Heartsdales feat. Soul'd Out - "Candy Pop"
This is by no means a new song, but it is insanely catchy and I have been on a huge Soul'd Out kick lately so I can't stop listening to it. Both acts involved are exceptionally talented and even if this is nothing but cheesy superficial crap by Japanese standards, it's still LEAGUES better than our domestic cheesy superficial crap. That and their ability to meld their styles together makes this thing just a joy to hear.

Flobots - "Handlebars"
This song, however, is brand spanking new for the most part. The Flobots are "performance artists" for the most part, and remind me a lot of Cake. It particularly shows in this song. The lyrics themselves really build a great flow for the song and the vocalists ability to wordsmith is comparable to most of the better rappers out there.

Halifax - "Broken Glass Syndrome"
This song is permanently associated with Jojo's in my head now even if the first time I ever heard it was in a Black Lagoon AMV (said AMV had been animated over to be relevant to Jojo's Part 5). The lyrics are actually prototypical of most acts in this genre, but when taken out of their original context and into that of the main story of Golden Wind, they become much more impacting. This is why I love it.

Oingo Boingo - "Only a Lad"
Kim and I have been on a big OB kick lately, and this stands as one of my favorite songs by them hands down. The whole thing just rocks, plain and simple. The lyrics, music, and general feel of the song is amazing, especially given OB is a progressive new wave group. I don't have to tell you that most music in that genre...well...it sucks. But groups like Oingo Boingo, alongside Talking Heads and other great acts, made this type of music meaningful.

The Black Crowes - "Jealous Again (Live)"
Perfect music for summer, The Black Crowes are masters of modern southern rock. A damn near 20 year long career has solidified them as the standard in the genre. Jealous Again is one of their classic songs, this time being performed live. PLEASE listen to this, please. The Robinson Brothers are amazing in every way.

Queen - "Great King Rat"
From the Greatest Band of All Time, I present to you one of their best songs. Words cannot describe how incredible this song is. Even if you aren't a fan of Queen, give this track a listen. You won't regret it.

Mitsuru Hongo - "Mihata no Moto ni", OP of Sakura Taisen: Ecole de Paris
Epic music is epic and uplifting. I love it so much. The Sakura Taisen soundtracks have always been something of amazement and still stand as a strong part of my anime fandom. Even if most anime fans today haven't got a fucking clue what Sakura Taisen is, I still make it a point to spread my love of this amazing and epic. It's also featured in the Golden Wind tribute video.

Bonus Track:: Kotoko - "Re-Sublimity"
