There's no one story, really. I just kind of remember when mom was still around, dad would forget everything. He's always been like that. He'd forget to go out and buy eggs, he'd forget he promised to clean the house... but he never forgot her birthday. Every year, he'd have flowers and a present ready for her when she got home, and they'd always go out to a big fancy dinner.
I always got really jealous that I never got to come along too. Dad was always goofy, but mom loved him so much, and he really cared about me and her too. He never missed any of my birthdays either, and he always had something fun planned for us to do. We'd spend every holiday together, as a family, no matter how busy he was with work. So it didn't matter that he forgot the little stuff, because he always remembered his family.
