Well, I am on a mailing list where Jehovah Witness doctrine is discussed, and someone mentioned the notion that Jesus became St. Michael. Now, every lie that has the power to hold someone must have some fragment of Truth in it.
So, Satan was cast into Hell by St. Michael the Archangel. There are several references to St. Michael in the book of Daniel (Which the JWs like to misread) and he is talked about in Jude and Revelation. Basically, Michael leads the heavenly host in battle against Satan and his minions, and Satan and his minions wind up where there is wailing and grinding of teeth.
In a brief nutshell, Jesus' mission is related, but fundamentally different. Jesus came to bridge God and Man in Himself by being the unification of Human and Divine natures, for the sake of perfecting Human nature. Anyway, the realm of Jesus' conquest was all death, but He didn't ransom angels, He ransomed Man.
These are related missions, but they're not the same. St. Michael cast out those angels who chose to be disobedient to God. Jesus performed the redemption of Man, mending what was broken by Adam's disobedience. Anyway, the Jehovah Witnesses don't hold a Christian understanding of the Trinity, which is by far the greater error, but I figured I would vent on this.
