Androgyny

I was reading one of
dkvenus ' entries and I started thinking...

I've always considered myself more androgynous than anything else.  I generally feel like I don't really fit in to any one gender.  Honestly, if we could come up with some pronoun (that doesn't sound stupid like Xe or Ze) I would use it.  Gender roles are socially prescribed, and I suppose because I was raised by a mother who wasn't overly feminine and a father who would make you feel like shit for showing emotion, I've sort of been raised outside the gender norm.  Sometimes, due to my lack of fitting in, I'll occasionally play up one gender role or another (depending on the situation).  If I'm surrounded by the stereotypical female, I'll tap into that socially constructed gender, whereas if I'm with the stereotypical male I have no problem fitting in.

I'm omni-sexual, but I don't prefer one gender over another.  Honestly though, anyone who can strike an even balance of anima and animus is right up my alley.

I definitely look like a woman (I've got a pretty staunch hourglass figure that I'm still not quite comfortable with).  But I'm uncomfortable with long hair and prefer the woman I date to have short hair as well.  Whereas I prefer the men I date to have longer hair.  I think that might be why I love anime so much.  I can throw on a dress, yet feel totally attractive and comfortable in a tux (was a groomsman in a wedding recently).

I have a huge problem with being vulnerable and showing emotions.  At the same time, I hate shovanistic bullshit and I'm extremely into the feminist movement.  I totally love having a vagina but HATE the reproductive organs I have.  I know that sounds weird, but the idea of having children has always disturbed me and the whole monthly deal just feels unnatural and pointless considering my outlook on giving birth.  (Not to say I wouldn't want to raise a child, but crapping one out is not in the stars for me)

Anyway, this was pretty much thinking aloud via typing; however, for you enjoyment I've included a picture of one my favorite androgynous boys:
