new old stock
A number of years ago, Nike bought Converse. I bought a number of pairs of Chuckies from an outlet store in Massachusetts before they stopped making them in America. My last pair is in pretty sad shape, and I went shopping this summer for new shoes. I struck out. There are a few companies that make non-sweatshop Chuck knockoffs, but I haven't been able to find one that's currently producing white ones.
I was going through some stuff in storage and found this box:
I wonder what's in there? It doesn't look as beat up as a box in storage should. Oh, what's this:
No way. This can't be.
Yep. A brand new pair of 'em I didn't remember I had. Apparently the beat up ones were the second to last pair I had.
Note the "Made in USA" on the back:
