Today I am going to hopefully see mirah perform at the gillman (of all places!) Then back to Alper's house for some sort of hippy fest. It should be fun. Lots of oneg-ing, so it can't go wrong.
Ok onto yesterday:
I had a fantastic birthday! I was at Alper's house when I first turned 18 and I had a celebratory oneg feast. Then the day of, I went to borders and bought birthday presents for elie and ryan, since i owed them it (for ryan i got brian wilson's "smile" album, and for elie i got him a book of Jeff Tweedy's poetry). We went to california pizza kitchen with andy also then to the cheesecake factory.
After that, I just showered and went to the city. I got to the city pretty early so I decided to hang out on fillmore for a bit. I got a cool belt for 5 bucks, and a cup of coffee to get me pumped up. I get to the show, and just set up. Friends come, achi is there, it was a nice group of friends that came. It was a pretty crappy gig, but we had so much fun playing, and people seemed to have had a good time. we were invited by this chick who works for this venue in marin called "the verge" (i think that's the name). they're rivals with the oasis so that's awesome. she wants us to enter into this battle of the bands thing where the first prize is 1000 bucks. cool, huh? So the show was awesome, then we went to mels to put some food in our stomaches. I gave Lane's friend a ride back to her house in sausalito (nice area) then passed out on my bed after writing this:
I met a golden monk
With a silver heart
He had a fortress in a bowl
I felt my soul creep in front
Of these crying angels
Whose glitter and sparks
Fall away from my eyes
He smiles at my shrugged shoulder
And grins as he says
There is a right sensation in dying
Not unless god was lying
Your breath begins to hold you down
And warms you over until
You dream, and forget yourself
Now I just need to tie it all together.
