Car repair

I've been having trouble with my car wanting to shut off when I am at stop signs, red lights and such. So that would be car in drive, foot off of the gas pedal, and on the break. It is idling normal then bogs down, idle normal, then bog down. It doesn't happen all of the time mostly when the car is warmed up and probably worse when it is raining but happens in nice weather too. I started having to put one foot on the gas and one on the break to keep it running, which is kind of annoying so I want to fix it.

I had my mechanic have a quick look at it but I was kind of doing a labor trade with him so he just spent some time but no parts. I think he checked to computer codes and cleaned out the fuel injector plate and one of the sensors for the determining fuel/air mixture.

After work today I changed the fuel filter to see if that could be causing the problem. I didn't drive it yet but I don't have high hopes that it will make the problem go away completely. I can say that working on the car in the driveway with no jack or ramps is kind of a pain. Even with them it is still not very fun. I got gas all over the place and some on my hands after my latex gloves broke. The part cost 4 dollars and I did it myself versus paying someone else to do it. It wasn't hard, just awkward positioning and messy. Not sure if it is worth justifying or not. But I am trying to fix and make more things by myself these days so doing these simple car tasks fits that bill.

If the problem doesn't go away, I might look at the spark plugs and wires next. The way it is normal then bogs makes me also think one of the cylinders is not firing correctly.
