I just finished digging like 8 inches of snow off of my car using a plastic dust pan as a shovel. I also shoveled half of my driveway using the dust pan as well. It actually works pretty good and I am considering getting an extra for my car as part of the emergency kit.

The plan is to be able to get my car out of the driveway by Wednesday so that I can drive up to Dan and Amy's house for christmas eve chili. My driveway is on a little bit of a hill and my car is backed down it. The chances of me just spinning the tires are pretty high at this point. I figure by clearing the snow off of the car and driveway in front of the tires it will melt in the next couple of days and I should have a good chance of making it out. I do have chains for my car as a plan B but I will see what the roads are like come Wednesday to see if I need to use them.

As a side note I'm glad that it only snows this much like every 10 years versus every few weeks. Shoveling snow gets a little tiring. I've be trying to keep after my walkway and sidewalk all weekend just like a good east coast boy. I use the limited tools I have available, mainly a broom and dust pan. I've been moderately successful but I got a late start last week while I was at work and everyone else was out tromping around turning the snow into ice. It melted some today and I think if the sun is out tomorrow it will be good.
