i went to the market today, just to look around, and there were all these tiny little sea shells set out on counters, which upon closer examination, i saw were moving, sliding fleshy little parts of their bodies out and back in a little, spitting water into the air, generally just passing the time until their impending deaths. and there was an old man with bags of snails in their shells, some of them crawling around. i was transfixed. the man gave me one to take home. ´un regalo, un regalo.´ ´este....puede vivir??????´, i asked. and he said, sí come lechuga. so i have a new friend which eats lechuga, apparently. i hope he survives for a while at least.
a lady asked ME for directions today. and i´m pretty sure she wasn´t trying to rob me, either, i think she genuinely wanted to know where calle larios was and i live right off of it. that is a foreigner´s dream come true, so soon.
