I call lame...

So my sister's boy called me the other day. I got him the first three books in the Game of Thrones series for Christmas, and when i saw him this past weekend he was plowing through A Clash of Kings and immediately jumped me with all sorts of questions ("Dude, what is Tyrion's deal?"). So, suffice to say, he's been reading and enjoying them.

...Until Tuesday, at which point he reached page 560 and realized that it was followed by page 787.

...Which apparently goes on from there to about 840 before switching back to page 620.

Yeah. The book i got him has a *huge* misprint.

So i apologized profusely--not, i told him, because i felt like it was my fault, but because that's so lame to be plowing through those books, all caught up in them, only to hit a brick wall and *not be able to continue.* Even lamer was the fact that he went to three bookstores yesterday (since i bought them in Kentucky and he's in Milwaukee) and discovered that while they're perfectly willing to let him exchange the book without a receipt, the GoT series is apparently sweeping Milwaukee...because they're out of CoK. (Although all *three* of the people working at Waldenbooks had the same reaction that i did--dude, that's so lame to get 560 pages into the book before grinding to a halt.)

Amusingly enough, when he called i'd just gotten home from taking advantage of Borders' Buy 3 Sci Fi/Fantasy, get the 4th free sale and picked up all 3 paperback GoT books. However, i think i already own A Storm of Swords...and now that i think about it, i think i also already own CoK, because i think i stole oddsboy's copy and then he bought a new one to replace it and graciously let me keep his when i owned up to my theft. So, oddsboy, i think your good karma means i'm gonna be sending my extra copy up to my sister's boyfriend, so that he can keep reading the series.

Poor kid.
