me: hey, that's a pretty cloud.
Surly: pretty scary, you mean.
me: yeah, actually, i was just thinking 'wow, that cloud looks like a lot of the really cool pictures i've seen on the stormchasers websites--oh. crap.
Surly: yeah. this might not be pretty.
[Scene 2: in which we stop for gas, coz Zoom might not make it home otherwise]
me: *pumping gas*
Surly: um, gollum?

Surly: my ears are popping.
me: crap.
Surly: yeah. let's get this gas thing taken care of and get home, k?
me: noted. trust me, i much prefer a house with a basement, radio and blankets to an open-air gas station.
so, batten down your hatches, cats and kittens. it looks like we'll have 3 separate waves of storm coming through, all of 'em red on the radar.
