OOC: Update

May 06, 2006 02:37

For those that are still unaware, the issue with Goll has been somewhat resolved. My VST withdrew (and claimed he never issued) his desanctioning. Goll is approved for play with some 'conditions'.

1. I play a different char once a month. While not strictly enforceable by Cam standards, it was a request. Which I get. Goll is an inhuman monster who really does whatever he wants without consequence in SLC and it would really be preferable to let others see a different side of my RP.

Commentary: The way I look, this is a player problem. People can't handle hard RP, and so they've whined. It's sad, but I suppose nothing is perfect.

2. I play a bit more attentively. I try not to let Goll directly brow-beat the smaller players and only fuck with those who are only moderately outclassed by what Goll can do. Just so I don't discourage the new.

Commentary: This one I get, even if I didn't think I was making an issue of it before. New players should be given chances to grow and thrive - that's why the Cam works as well as it does. But I find it amusing that I'm only supposed to f*ck with the older, more powerful characters... when those that complained were mostly older players anyway.

So that's it. I'm bringing it a new char, and this will be my last OOC cross-post for a while... I hope. Special thanks go out to Logan, David B., David S., Jeremy, CharlieGirl (Is it sad I don't know your RL name?), John H., Crystal and several others who all lent their support and advice. It helped genuinely.

Commentary on the situation overall: This has shaken my confidence to no small end. The idea that a game like SLC's cannot properly keep Goll is surprising to me - the idea of an entire game being incapable of reigning in a single character has never occured. I think eventually a more permanent solution will become necessary... and we'll likely find one.
