Yesterday I was running around as I always do and decided I should get some cash from the ATM. Lucky for me my bank has a branch right in the middle of about five of my pools. I went through the drive through ATM, got some cash, and drove across the street to the gas station because I figured I should get some gas. Once across the street I realized that I am THAT person... you know... the one that left their card in the machine. So I go back to the bank, take a look at the ATM, find out that my card isn't still in the machine, and then walk inside to see if anyone turned it in during the five minutes I wasn't there. No such luck because apparently if you leave your card in the ATM it will eat it to keep someone from stealing it. I suppose that's nice. It does mean that I have to cancel my card just in case and that I have no card until a new one is mailed to me within the week. All that is a bit of a hassle, but that's okay, it's my own fault for not paying attention.
After finishing up with the bank I went back to the gas station, got some gas, and then went inside to get a slush puppy (sometimes a girl just needs a slushy). The cashier asked me how my day was, I said not too bad and asked him how his was, he responded with something like it was great now that I've stopped in, and then as I was leaving he told me "have a blessed day." I smiled and kept my thoughts to myself, they were mostly about how I should have gotten a slushy first because maybe after being told to have a blessed day I wouldn't have had the ATM incident. That little four word sentence stayed with me the rest of the day though.
I drove around thinking "I wonder who he was thinking would bless my day." He might have been referring to the Christian God. He might have been referring to Allah. For all I know he could practice Wicca. I don't know. Then another question came to mind: Does it matter? If another person whether you know them or not, wishes good things for you, are you ever in such a good state that you don't accept them or whatever because they might not be directed from the higher power you yourself believe in?
It's a weird question, but has it ever flitted across your thoughts?
