I spend a lot of my online life bitching about people living really annoying online lives.
Now, I've come to realize that it's not just online. I see people all the time trying to cover up who they really are. Not laughing at a joke because it's a little over the line or because it came from the mouth of someone they don't like or it's on a movie they hate. Not liking a band or movie or person because it's not trendy right now. These are the same people that JUST bought all the Johnny Cash albums. The same people that a year ago filled their iPods with Ray Charles songs. The same people that have Nightmare Before Christmas tattoos.
I don't get it. I understand that there is an image to protect to a certain extent. But, what about THOSE people. Like a good friend that you find out is fake. That's the worst. Usually--no eff that... Always, it's to impress a member of the opposite sex. It's never to get a better job or advance their social standing. It's to impress a girl or guy so they can possibly get laid. That's the epitome of fraud. You may as well start telling him/her "I love you" because it's the same thing. Leading your new "friend" down a path of lies just to get in their pants is not a great way to go. Plus, maybe they're lying the whole time too and then 6 months from now you realize that you came for the fun times you had bowling and you stayed for the sex. Then you find out they don't like bowling and neither do you. Now what do you do together? Great... now you've got this great thing in the sack but that's all that's working out.
Off track. Anyway, what I'm saying is that I'm not that mad about these little bitchy LJ, MS, bloggers that are annoying me. I realized that it's much worse to be a bitch in real life. Especially when you give up on friends and other things. Watching people throw away a great future and a great past is horrible. But it's even worse when they're settling for a depressing present.
