HOW DO YOU EVEN WORK.
-All the promos and stuff made me think this episode was Damon centric, but actually it seemed to be the most Stefan Stefanish episode since 3x03?
NOT COMPLAINING.
LONG OVERDUE TBH.
ALL THE THINGS STEFAN WAS IN THIS EPISODE = COME INTO MY WAITING ARMS. Sometimes these people give me a glitter of hope that they do know what they're writing. I mean, maybe not because who can even really connect the dots with Stefan's storyline this season, but still. STILL.
DAMON BROUGHT BACK RIPPER!STEFAN IN 1912 AND THEN DID NOTHING WHEN HIS BRO WENT ON TO KILL MIGRANT VILLAGES.

-So usually I get a little grumpy about the Salvatore brothers lovefest, right? It's not that I don't love them/root for them, but I have all these fears about Team Salvatore taking over the show aka Winchesters v.2.0 when I have all these fanciful ideas about the show being Elena's journey. THAT SAID, THIS WAS ME WHEN DAMON PROMISED TO HELP HIS BROTHER FIND A PATH TO MODERATION AND THAT STEFAN IS ALL HE'S GOT LEFT:

-LOLed every time Damon read from Stefan's journals and made fun of his judging. Also it was probably inappropriate, but I also laughed when Matt and Elena rounded the corner and made horrified faces at Stefan's bloody vampire mouth? THE SCENE WAS SO OBVIOUS BUT ALSO SUPER AWKWARD AND A LITTLE BIT TRAGIC? So clearly the only response was to start laughing. And whatever Ian Somerhalder's reaction face was, it was perfection.
-OTHER THINGS I LAUGHED AT: Damon spending the first 50 years of his vampire life moping around and saving himself for Katherine. LOL DAMON. LOOK AT YOUR LIFE, LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES. LOOK AT YOUR PATTERNS. Super creepy how Sage's solution was to teach him the art of rape seduction. Which... oh. Back there, I see.
-Elena + Matt's talk in the kitchen about her suspect choices in romantic partners = VERY NICE, ME LIKE. We're so heading to the path of Elena choosing neither Salvatore by season's end. Or Matt/Elena? They have been getting many moments lately. And ever_neutral keeps saying it will be so.
-I didn't really understand/pay much attention to the plotty stuff in this episode? Something something about Founding Families? And some Salvatore relatives once cut down some trees? ....idk, I assume there will be much more exposition on this before it comes to a head.
-So Rebekah and Klaus are still just hanging around Mystic Falls? And the Mayor is okay with this enough that she meets Rebekah for lunch dates? Okay fine.
-ALARIC'S RING MADE HIM CRAZY? OR... IS MEREDITH JUST MESSING WITH HIS HEAD? Either option is cool with me ngl. I mean Elena does not have enough serial killers in her life yet.
p.s. DOESN'T JEREMY HAVE A RING TOO? Maybe Jeremy is also crazy and then they will bring him back to slice off Hybrids's heads with meat cleavers again. \o/
Man I've been so consumed by Gossip Girl lately that I almost forgot what it's like to watch a well-written and tightly paced drama that combines both character development and plot twists. IT'S NICE. MORE PLEASE.
And now... bedtime. I'm headed to linsell_farm's tomorrow for a day of food, TVD re-watching, and fangirling. \o/ BEST EVER. Also hoping to fit in my first outdoor run of the season in the morning, weather permitting. Fingers crossed.
