This show. Sometimes, not gonna lie, I wonder why I'm still watching. Especially during those moments when Damon gets away with his crazy shit. But this. This was a great reminder of why I stick around.
I thought last week, when he was finally called out on how wrong some of his behavior is, "if this were a different show, this would probably all be leading up to his death." AND THEN HE GOT BIT BY A WEREWOLF. I am not really a Damon fan anymore - I still find him interesting as a character, but also a despicable person - but I wish this were a braver show, because he would die in the next two weeks, and not in a 'going out with a bang' way that I think he's always wanted (this is a man who volunteered for war back in 18-whatever) but with a whimper, like he deserves.
And oh, God, Stefan and Elena. Absolutely heartbreaking, but I love how even in the end he stood by her decision, even though he hated it. I don't think she's going to be a vampire, either (at least not this early), but I can't wait to see how that all plays out.
Have you seen that quote from Joseph Morgan about how Klaus will take a special (non-romantic) interest in Stefan? So excited for that.
Wow. If I knew I had so much to say, I would have just made a post about it.

I wish this were a better show, where the character and narrative response was allowed to be proportionate to what he deserved so that every beautiful thing you just said could come true.
I was going to say better, but I have to admit that it's not a bad show. Considering the way other teen-oriented shows treat their characters (especially their women), I actually think TVD does well with keeping their characters not only consistent but human in their responses. Even, I have to admit, Damon, though he's clearly their surrogate for some of humanity's worse traits.
