2010 Fandom Meme
I feel SO WELL PREPARED for my last exam tomorrow. I was so focused and motivated this weekend, guys, I felt like my old self again. WHERE WAS CRAZY STUDY MODE!FRANCES THESE LAST TWO WEEKS AND WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR HER TO APPEAR? On Saturday I think I managed to put in like 8 - 9 hours of studying straight and did another five yesterday. WHAT UP.
The front page of the paper today was about how Heathrow is closed and how all of Europe is being ravaged by.... two centimetres of snow. I got so butthurt. Um, does Europe get front page stories when WE get snow and people's flights are cancelled? I THINK NOT. Also the provinces and the federal government are bickering over pension reform WHICH IS FAR MORE RELEVANT TO MY INTERESTS and clearly should have been given more attention. (The federal government has dropped their plan for immediate reform despite its necessity because it will probably be unpopular! And it looked like all provinces were opposed! But then in a ~shocking twist~ ALBERTA AND QUEBEC have joined forces together TO STAND WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT which is not something I would have ever predicted. I mean how exciting is that.)

1. Your main fandom of the year: Doctor Who, man. For the fourth year running! Alas, I think Doctor Who and I are on our way out, which makes me a little sad, but I also feel like it’s the right time. We had a good few years and my OTP got a happily ever after, sort of, so what more could I ask for.
2. Your favorite Film this year: LOL I have such shitty taste in movies though Hollywood does not really help in that regard. Um, I really enjoyed Salt despite how terrible it was? And Harry Potter 7 kind of reminded me about why I liked the books so much in the first place? IDK, I DON’T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR.
3. Your favorite Book read this year: I... don’t.... really read for fun. I liked Alison Weir’s “The Sixth Wives of Henry VIII”? I’ve also been working on a John A MacDonald biography for like 18 months now which I kind of enjoy. CANADIAN HISTORY IS AWESOME OKAY WHATEVER.
4. Your favorite Album or Song this year: Lady Gaga’ “Telephone.” SORRY I CANNOT HEAR YOU, I'M KINDA BUSY.
5. Your favorite TV Show this year: It’s probably a tie between Dexter and The Vampire Diaries. From an objective standpoint, Dexter is probably the better all-around crafted show, but I love TVD on a level that I love so few things. Mostly I just feel so lucky that I got to experience both shows this year..... I don’t get out much, okay.
6. Your favorite LJ Community this year: doctor_rose_fix I KNOW I AM A MOD, WHAT OF IT. The community is awesome and I like to think that it makes people smile so A+.
7. Your best new Fandom Discovery of the Year? MY NEW VAMPIRE SHOW, I LOVE IT SO MUCH AND WANT TO SIT AROUND ON LJ TALKING AND SQUEEING ABOUT IT ALL DAY. COME JOIN ME, WE HAVE SCREWED UP CO-DEPENDENT BROTHERS AND AWESOME FEMALE CHARACTERS.
8. Your biggest Fandom Disappointment of the Year? S5 of How I Met Your Mother. That sucked so hard, right? AND I HAVE NEVER REALLY FORGIVEN THEM FOR THE WAY THEY BROKE UP BARNEY/ROBIN. D: Also, the Robin/Don relationship was such a spectacular failure in every conceivable way, what were you even thinking, show.
But I love Robin again in S6 so I am slowly beginning to forgive the show. I love my favourite gun-toting, angry hockey fan Canadian. :D
9. Your TV Boyfriend of the year: STEFAN SALVATORE. Best boyfriend ever. I mean, aside from the stalking (BUT THERE WERE CIRCUMSTANCES) and sometimes going a little psycho and also being a vampire. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, Stefan is the best TV boyfriends ever.
10. Your TV Girlfriend of the year: Natalie Dormer of Anne Boleyn from the Tudors fame. She is just so gorgeous and I think one of those actors who makes everyone around them better and who is so hard to look away from when they’re onscreen. AND HER STORY BROKE MY HEART. BROKE MY HEART. I read Anne Boleyn books for months thanks to her-AND I CRIED EVERY TIME.
Also did I mention how pretty she is?
11. Your biggest Squee moment of the year? It is probably a cross between Ten’s last act before he died going back to stalk bb!Rose from an alleyway and Stefan and Elena’s reunion at the end of The Light of the Moon. MY SHIPPER HEART IS EASILY SUSCIPTBLE OKAY.
AND HOW CAN I FORGET THIS:
It was only the single greatest/most important moment in all of Canadian history.
12. Your most Missed Old Fandom? Firefly. I miss hanging out with all of you guys. D: It was so fun. And also, HP7 gave me a bit of a Harry Potter renaissance again?? :O THINGS I WOULD NOT HAVE PREDICTED.
13. Your Fandom that you haven't Tried Yet, but want to? So... if I love The Vampire Diaries, does that make me more or less likely to also love True Blood?
12. Your Biggest Anticipations of the New Year? TVD COMES BACK ON JANUARY 27. IT CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH IDEK WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF IN THE MEANTIME.
