I've started watching this Legend of the Seeker show because some people (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) kept going on about it.
OMFG, MOST ADDICTING SHOW EVER. I DID NOT EXPECT THAT AFTER THE FIRST EPISODE.
It's so cheesy and ridic and full of terrible dialogue and SPECIAL DESTINIES and CHOSEN ONES and WHITE WIZARDS and takes itself very, very seriously. So at first I was kind of like:
But once you get past all that, you realize that the show is all about pretty people and sword fighting and ~forbidden love~ and gorgeous shots of New Zealand and MAGIC.
So now I'm basically like:
UM BASICALLY THIS SHOW WAS MADE FOR ME. WHY DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG.
I mean, it's still way too SRS BSNS but I think that's part of the show's charm. IDK. It feels like this interesting cross between Lord of the Rings and the BBC's Merlin. But the characters are really likable, there are a good number of female characters who do a whole lot more than "screaming in terror" (their usual role in fantasy), and Zedd is probably the first powerful wizard in white I do not hate (sorry Dumbledore and Gandalf). So well played, Legend of the Seeker. I also think that the show is coming up with its own mythology more and more as it goes along and relying less on fantasy tropes to move along. I approve of that.
So yeah I don't want it to ever end. Maybe I should have held out longer so I could have had more seasons to watch at once. HUMPH.
