Thanks to katesutton for the head's up.

The BBC finally made an official announcement on the future of Doctor Who. Not really that spoilery except that it partially answers the wild casting speculation I've been throwing spastic fits over worrying about.

So instead of a full season in 2009, we'll be getting three "specials?" What?! It's pretty much the most ambiguous description I've ever heard. That could mean anything from three Christmas-like episodes to entire arcs. (Translation: "We really, really, really want to keep David, but he appears to be doing this strange theatre thing in the fall. Maybe we should cut down his filming schedule? OH, I KNOW. Let's make specials instead of a full season!")

I'm guessing that the 2010 fifth series will start with the Eleventh Doctor? That's okay. I can handle that. Two more years of DT, anyway, and I'll probably lose all semblance of sanity. AND YAY! I won't have to go through the pain of a regeneration at the end of the fourth season. WooHOOO!

What are the chances one of these "specials" could focus on the Doctor/Rose arc? Like, say, the last one? Am I getting ahead of myself?

Dear fandom, can we stop speculating on who will play the Eleventh Doctor now? Thanks.

doctor who: season four, doctor who
