Charlie Challenge: Day 24 #ccprompt24 @YMandCharlie

May 26, 2012 00:18

Prompt [#24*]: Share a photo of one of your family members that reflects where you came from.

Sorry this is super late, it took me ages to find suitable photos. Most of our physical stuff being packed away in weird places, and our house in general being a tip.

This is the best I could do without being just horribly depressing, which seems to almost be my default setting for the more introspective Charlie Challenges, so to combat that I've taken a leaf from an earlier Charlie's book and combined some shots:

Main Image - My Mother and Brother on a holiday we took in Somerset (we went to a Haven holiday park near a place called Watchet) a couple of years ago, one of very few we have been on. We generally don't photograph each other, so this is pretty rare.

Inset Left - My Father and his family (this was where it got depressing - I actually cried, which for me is unusual - the only thing I could come up with was this photo on its own with the caption that I don't remember any of these people, my Aunt and Grandfather having died before I was born, and my Father and Grandma before I was five, which does sort of remind me where I came from).

Inset Right - My Mother and Gran, and just a nice picture of my Gran dancing (or playing darts, but I think she's dancing), to help offset the maudlin feeling I was gtting off the other photo. Gran lived next door to us until she passed, so thinking of her taking care of me when younger, us watching the snooker together, and going on trips to places like Badbury Clump (a popular bluebell wood, that's actually an Iron-Age hill fort) will never not remind me of where I came from.

[Note: I usually use imgur for pictures, but for some reason it's not working at the moment, so LJ's scrapbook it is.]

[Edit: Here's the picture at imgur:]

*For some reason it actually states '#18' on the website.
