today was a lot of things. this past weekend was a lot of things too. and this coming weekend...well shit, that's gonna be a hell of a lot of things.
but right now i just want to quote pete yorn, then maybe take my shower, and hopefully start writing a story.
pete yorn made this ridiculously awesome website yesterday that basically lets all us fans get a real chance to talk to him. obviously this is like a dream come true to me. so far i've said a couple things and gotten responses and that just floors me. i mean, it's simple little stuff, nothing groundbreaking, but for me...well, if you know anything about me, you know that pete and his music mean the world to me and i think he's just the coolest thing ever so...haha. anyways, he's been telling us we can ask whatever and just talk and stuff, but today someone asked him about his reasons for starting up the site. this was his response:
"I think I'm just looking for connection...you know...growing up...I always loved the ideas I had about singers I admired....they seemed so mysterious.....stories were written about them, interviews were scarce or conducted by someone else. this type of thing just did not and could not exist. In hindsight...I wonder if some of my favorite artists hid behind this mystery. I don't want to hide behind anything. Today we have all these tools...people use them for marketing and selling and promoting...that's all fine and good, but I want to use this just to make a connection with people...I have a tshirt that says "expose yourself to pete yorn"....I guess I just feel that it's time to expose myself to you. Oh dear. I'm curious to see where this leads. As I said it's an experiment of sorts. I may see my shadow in a day or too and run back into my old tree stump."
