The incredibly tragic story of Tori Stafford's end

Mar 21, 2012 15:49

UPDATE, petition:

We, the undersigned, believe that when there is irrefutable evidence that a child was murdered with forethought, the murderer should lose their right to live within our society and should be put to death.
Canadians strongly oppose the continued support of these individuals.

We want this to be called Tori's Law.

I sincerely believe in life without parole. What happened to it? Put a child-rapist in jail...the other inmates have no tolerance...predators become prey. He will know fear, every single day. I think it's bullshit that deals can be made...and life is fifteen years or so. That's what has to be stopped. At the same time, there are soooo many people in jail, who shouldn't be there, who didn't receive the justice they needed...because they didn't have the money to spend on a decent lawyer. Look how DNA testing is freeing so many 'rapists' who were innocent. Look at the first offenders...a stupid kid who tried to deal pot, put in with violent criminals, who teach...violent crime. I want the system to be better. I want parents to have more training, I want schools that can find these troubled people...when they are troubled kids, and haven't done anything yet. Then I'd like to see jails in the wilderness, for violent offenders...where they have to fight the elements, and each day is hard, hard, hard. I'd like to have a justice system that looks at individual cases...and really goes for rehabilitating those who can be...keeping us safe from those who can't be. I think, with people working to make it so, the system can be changed. Mostly folks are lazy, when it comes time to work to change things...the outcry when something like this happens, doesn't seem to last, people go back to their daily lives...and the system stays as it is. I'd say, the people need to put Life Without Parole on the voting ballots...with a legal system that's actually ethical, not spinning on money. You could start a petition on Credo...for violent offenders, like this monster (who began as innocent as your children) to be kept away from society, for the rest of their natural lives, unless evidence comes forth to prove innocence, like the present DNA debacle. When guilt is proven, without a doubt, a prison in the wilderness should be their forever home. I do want to see violent offenders studied thoroughly, psychologically. We need to find out what makes this terrible disconnect in a mind and conscience. I'd like to see a school system where the best teachers come, because they get the pay they deserve...and ball-players get a teacher's present salary. Teachers are invaluable, to catch the wee ones who are abused...and heading down an ugly road. Real life classes, where kids take care of dolls, as children...an easy and eye-opening test. Lastly...television, the news, and our children. We have a tendency to think children can't absorb ugly news or conversation...like they don't have ears, and smart little brains (but don't necessarily have all the right connections to understand what they see) to be inundated with this ugliness.

You're right to watch your babes, as you do so well. Cleanse yourself a bit, from this. Look at your beautiful children, feel a comfort that they have a great mama to guide them in being compassionate but careful human beings. Blessings to you all. xo
