Happy Halloween everyone!!!
Well.. this weekend ROCKED!!! I went to the Horrorfind Weekend here in Phoenix. It was a whole weekend filled with horror movie fantastical adventuring. It all started on Friday, when I managed to get off work early so that we could be at the hotel by 4 pm for check-in. Well, that was the plan anyway. I got off work with slightly no hitches, (except for the student who told one of the other teachers that he was going to “bitch-slap” her), so that took a few minutes to work out. But I was on my way in no time.
After getting off of work, I went to go pick up Michael. He was actually ready on time and we grabbed a couple of bottles of wine and were off like a prom dress. The ride up to the hotel was slow, the 101 here in town is always bumper-to-bumper. But it was only like 30 miles so it wasn’t too bad. The directions on the website were wrong, so we were driving around for a bit trying to find the hotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel, I was taken aback by the beauty of it. I swear it looked like the Overlook. The inside was beautiful but creepy. It was a very ritzy resort and sometimes i felt out of place, (imagine that.. me feeling out of place! Heh) It was very cool and I have pictures that I will share of the hotel. But I haven’t gotten them developed yet. So, more on that later.
When Michael and I walked into the convention hall, we were greeted by an awesome sight. Sid Haig was walking around and he walked right past us. We were so excited, it was the coolest thing. We actually saw him twice as we made our way across the huge expansion that was this hotel to check in. We got lost on the way to the room, and it wouldn’t be the last time we were to be lost. The convention didn’t start until 5 o’clock so we had time to go to the room and get ready. I sent Michael down to pick up the tickets while I showered and figured out what I was going to wear. It sucked though because I decided to wear heels all day at work and my feet were already killing me. I decided upon a cute little red and black renaissance dress with red and black hair.
Off we went to the convention to meet some horror-movie deliciousness. I was amazed at how few people there were at the event. I was glad because it really allowed for a more intimate connection and experience. Some of the celebrities that were there:
• Ashley Lawrence - Hellraiser
• Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding) and his lovely girlfriend Suzie Suicide
• Doug Bradley - Pinhead
