Sian POV.
I held tight onto her hand, as if she was going to slip away if I let go in the slightest. She looked so peaceful but then I let my eyes divert to the gash in her stomach making me sob all the more. Sophie was the one person who made me become who I am, to stand up that little bit more for myself instead of letting them think I was some doormat. I just don't know what I'd do if she didn't pull through, she's all I have left now.
“Miss?” I looked up to see the paramedic that helped bring her back to life. “You jumping out?” I nodded weakly and hopped out of the ambulance allowing them to pull Sophie out in the stretcher. We walked down the narrow, well lit corridor until he turned to me and told me I couldn't go any further, but any news even if it's small he will come straight to me. I nodded and sat down in the waiting area. I knew he meant well, how I wouldn't give anything to scream at them and tell them that I should be there with her but I knew I couldn't do that, they were helping her and besides I have way to much respect for the people in this place. Yes I still have respect for strangers although they could do the same to what my cousin did to me. Uncle Ty was bad but nothing compared to my cousin Danny. A cough made my head shoot up as the paramedic smiled. “You can see her now.” I looked at the clock, it had been 4 hours already. I thanked him and proceeded to the room number he told me.
I took one deep breath and opened the door slightly. Wires were everywhere making me turn my head quickly. I had to be strong for Soph, no more tears unless need be. I pushed the door open all the way and walked across the room to her. It took me a few moments to compose myself, sit down and reach for her hand. Again she looked so peaceful making my heart break. She almost died and it was my fault, but I wasn't going to run away, I was going to stick by her and protect her like she did for me.
A light nudge on my shoulder made me wake from my slumber.
“Soph?” I asked hoarsely.
“Who are you?” I turned to be met with a small, petite women, with short blonde hair, about 40 ish.
“Uhh, I'm Sian.”
“And why are you here?” She asked rudely.
“Cause I'm Sophie's-”
“Sophie's what?” Her eyes narrowed at me.
“Girlfriend.” She chuckled lightly.
“That's a good one, my daughter's not gay.”
“Urrm, I'm pretty sure she is?”
“And I'm sure you were the one who initiated it then? Corrupted her, making her into a freak.” I stood up, still holding onto her hand.
“Now just you wait a minute love.” I said angrily. “Me and Soph have been through a hell of a lot these past few months, and where were you huh? What's your excuse?”
“Her mother needs no excuse. I suppose you're the reason she's in here, this is why she shouldn't be like you, cause people don't like it. And this is what happens.” She pointed to Sophie. I laughed. “What are you laughing at?”
“You.” She was taken aback by my sudden harshness. “You think this was done because of some homophobic people? The whole world doesn't revolve around some low-life person whose morals needs to turn just slightly more modern. This was done because of a certain guy that goes by the name of Tyler. Your husbands brother.”
“Tyler? What does he have to do with this.”
“I'll give you a hint. Prostitution.”
“What?”
“Got people to pay for sex, sold her on corners, which ever way you want to put it, it won't make it less dirty.” The shock on her face showed it all. “And where were you?”
“I-I was...”
“Exactly. So before you point the finger I suggest you remember who has been through all this with her.”
“And how exactly did you wind up through all this with her.”
“Sold. That's how the trade works. You don't ask for it, you get chosen and yes I was the same, I got sold by a family member but not my uncle, my cousin. A very dangerous man I may add.” I sat down, feeling exhausted. “What's your name?”
“Sally.” She choked out lightly.
“Well Sally, Whatever your reasons were for not being there, I'm sure they were sort of acceptable. Here's your chance, to accept your daughter for who she is and be here when she wakes up. She needs a stable life now, and I'm going to be apart of it whether you like it not.”
“Thank you.” She muttered with a weak smile.
“For what?”
“For being there for Sophie when I couldn't, I can tell you really care for her. I'm just grateful she's finally found someone to love.” I looked down at Sophie and squeezed her hand.
“I'm the one who should be grateful Sally, not her.”
