Well, I think the reason I can't get online at home (other than not having time) is that we need to update our antivirus software. Seriously. It's been way too long since they started putting up those pop-ups telling us it's due. So we've got to find a way to do that soon. Cause it's pissing the kids off too. It keeps kicking them off the games they play just to tell them to have an administrator update the software. And I'd like to be able to get into my email and save some pics I have received from various people. I miss the internet with my favorites list.
J isn't a contract teacher anymore. They allowed the other teacher to come back to her position. But they are putting him in that room for one period a day as a ParaPro and paying him certification pay for that period. So small raise in paycheck from normal. I'm very proud of him. They also asked him to look into getting his special ed certification as soon as possible. Which would mean he could become a regular contract teacher at that point. It took them one day to agree to the pay for the one class, and the same time they asked him to work on the certification. They really do see him as a valuable addition to the staff, and are showing him that. He started out there at the bottom, knowing some of the teachers and staff due to previous work (sub and SA Manager) but not really in a position for them to really see him work. As a sub he just does what the teacher leaves for him, and at SA he was in charge of making sure the schools did what they had to do, and didn't want to do all the time, in getting the needed help for the kids in his program. Didn't always make a favorable impression in that capacity. So his offers and promotions are purely based on the work he's done in the first semester at that school. He did more as a short-term contract teacher in the Autism room (for about a month) than the regular teacher has in the years she's been there. And she's taken all the work he did, and slid so far backwards that you can't even tell that he did so much if you were to look in there now and not seen anything he did. But I'm still proud of him because the administration saw and are giving him the respect he deserves due to that work.
One of my coworkers left a week ago now. Her husband is due home from Iraq the endof February I think and so she's getting ready to go back to N Carolina where he's stationed when he's in the States. She's got to find a house, and get all her dr appts done here before she actually goes back cause she doesn't really have a dr there. It's a good thing that he's coming home, but sad that she's leaving. She was so much fun to have around. But, when his service is done they'll move back to here permanently. We're all looking forward to that.
I fit into size 14 jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried on 16's when J gave me $20 to get a new pair (cause I'm down to one pair of jeans and he said this will last me until my settlement comes in so I can get more), and though they fit they were a little too loose for my liking. So I tried 14's thinking they may be a little tight, but they weren't. They fit perfectly. I have 16's in my khaki's and slacks at home, and they're tight/just right so I think it's just that the khaki's may have shrunk in the hundreds of times they've been washed, and that the slacks are cut and made so differently that would account for the size difference. My slacks have always had to be a size larger anyway.
I've settled with the auto agency. I just have to wait for authorization of bills from one insurance to find out if I get my amount only, or if I also get an extra $1000 to cover unpaid bills. I'm getting 5500 for me and 1200 for Michael (cause he was in the car with me) with a possible 6500 for me if the one company doesn't pay the bills. That way I can write the check and not have it come out of my actual settlement. I'm excited cause we'll pay off some of our debt and I'll be able to get some new clothes now that I've lost 40 lbs (I'm still wearing some of my old clothes cause they still fit some and I don't have much that is new).
I got my new glasses a few weeks ago. They look so much better than my old ones, and I can see so much better too. I just love them. Found out my eyes tend to drift a little to the outside (not enough to be noticable, but enough to matter with my vision), I have a cell clockage in the right eye on the outside back that probably won't do anything, but if it ever does it'll just cover a small area of my peripheral vision, and even that will be a long time coming. I also see in double vision with my eyes seeing things kitty corner and/or straight up and down rather than what most people with double vision see as two things side by side. So they corrected that in my glasses lenses. They'll never be able to correct some of these things with contacts, but if I choose to go that route next year we'll just have to see what my vision will be like, and what he recommends. I chose a new eye dr as the last one I went to at that office didn't do much, and never did get the right rx with my contacts, even after 5 attempts. So when I saw the new one, he did WAY more than she ever did, and probably spent 3 times longer with me than she ever did. He took pictures of both eyes to show me that blockage, and so they can keep an eye on it into the future by comparing future pics to this year's pics. He also took way more tests to find the exact problem with the double vision and eye movements than I ever thought they could do. Needless to say I am very pleased with him and will continue to see him when I need to go in.
