Today, I went to the library for a mini-meeting with my lovely co-president, Stephi, and Gail (the children's librarian).  Somehow, Gail coerced us into helping her shelve books, because apparently they're severely under-staffed at the moment.

She showed us the back room, and every. single. cart. was full of books.  It was scary.  So she taught Stephi and me the system for doing children's paperbacks (which is actually more complex than you might think), and we got through two carts!  (Okay, so only about a quarter of each cart was paperbacks, but whatever).

It was oddly satisfying.  I like organizing things, I guess.  And also, this was like a trip down Memory Lane.  As I was placing the "Paperback Series" in the rounder, I kept noticing all the books I read when I was younger: the Boxcar Children, The Bailey School Kids...you know.  Except now apparently Mary-Kate and Ashley books are popular.  What happened to the good ol' days of Sweet Valley High?  (Haha, I'm sure they weren't much better, but still...I remain loyal to my childhood.)
But anyway, I'd forgotten about all those books, as well as the rest of the paperbacks (which are shelved under an entirely different system; don't worry, I won't subject you to an explanation).  So the whole experience was very cool.  I'm fer shure going back next week.  Hey Pearl, you should come do it with me some weekend!  ('Twould be good experience for you, y'know, new "job.")

And now...onward!  To Union Station!

Then the Grand Canyon.  'f you were wondering.
