Opening Day - I think the heat and the bodice got the better of me.

First day of the Renn Faire and I was told to sit down and handed three bottles of water. Not a good sign or even that much fun. I guess it was early indications of heat stroke. And apparently I wasn't the only one. Another person had to be taken out by helicopter from Opening day at MDRF.

I followed everyone's advice, kept to the shade and drank lots of water. Even when you are not doing anything too interesting you still run into great people at the MDRF. A young woman I worked with last season, and some of her friends, took me under their wing. They sat with me and checked that I was drinking plenty of water. And one chivalrous young man fanned me with the small purple feather fan I brought to give to my two-year-old niece.

My family had gone ahead to explore a bit while I sat under a tree. Later I was able to join them and show them a few of the sights. I made sure my niece made it to hear The Rogues play at the Dragon's Inn. I knew the belly-dancers would be performing. My niece, dressed like "Tinker Bell," had such a grand time! She joined the belly-dancers and tried to imitate what they were doing. She also tried to incorporate a few moves that she learned from her "Bear In The Big Blue House" video. It was too adorable for words.
