Thus far cleaning and emptying boxes I've found:
**Lovely velvet purple purse (eggplant-purple), I forgot I owned
**$1.65 in a purse lining with a hole in it
** Not one, but two pairs of long black opera gloves (one never knows when formal occasions, calling for such items, might arise)
** My faux ermine fur neck collar (complete with faux ermine head and working jaw that allows you to clamp said jaw to faux ermine tail to close it together around your neck) I think it might have be a heirloom from one of my Grandmothers'.
** A ceramic CIGALE from Provence, France. (Or what my Stepdad calls a "Kady-did" or also know as a Cicada.)
'Cause everyone needs a ceramic locus!(Actually the French collect them. Today in Provence you will see many cicadas hanging outside of homes as a “Porte Bonheur” or a symbol believed to bring happiness.)
** Venetian decorative mask, that I actually got in Venice.
** French Renaissance tapestry pillow cover Needs 18" x 18" pillow insert.
(A birthday gift from my Mom and Stepdad. This is along with a note saying it is a from the Provence. Note goes on to say it reminds them of the fanciful side of me, that they both love.)
** Provence formal lace tablecloth and eight matching cloth napkins. Too beautiful for words.
** A pair of Korean Wedding Ducks from the time I spent in South Korea. Ducks mate for life and are a symbol for a long and happy marriage. --> No, I've never been married, but I thought it was a nice tradition and would be a handy wedding gift, should a spare-of-the-moment wedding gift be needed.
(So the Korean custom goes, a pair of wooden
Korean Wedding Ducks, one symbolizing the bride and the other the groom, can indicate whether couples are happy or at odds. After the wedding, the ducks are displayed in the house. If the ducks face bill to bill [face each other], the couple is getting along. If they are tail to tail, the couple is believed to be fighting.)
Disclaimer: This is all true. I have a good imagination but I think even *I*, would be hard pressed to invent the random treasures that I found as I empty boxes this weekend.
Post to be updated as more treasures are found! ;)
