Today I had to use my electronics degree . . . Ok, I have no electronic engineer degree, but I didn't let that stop me.
Cable television is not in the budget right now, and I have two TV's in my house that are showing nothing but snow on every channel.
I found a old tv antenna in the thrift store. It had the old 300-Ohm Flat TV antenna cable with two leads on it. One had the "feety things" (
spade lugs) for the UHF connection. The second lead for the VHF connection was missing the spade lugs.
I used a utility knife and cut off the spade lugs from a broken tv antenna someone had given me. I spliced the VHF cable lead and the spade lugs together. Whamo! Better TV reception.
With a few exceptions. It's by no means as clear as cable. And ghost images sometimes appear on the TV screen whenever I walk across the room. And yeah, channel 7 rolls when ever the background music crescendos. HOWEVER, it is way better than the snow I was watching before. And I was able to have my Sunday night tradition of watching
"Extreme Makeover - Home Edition" and cry at the ending.
