Spring Break post

Spring break is finally here for 2008 and I am well overdue for a post here at Live Journal.  In general, my attention span hasn't been focused here and I have kinda drifted off into my own world as I tend to do when school is in.  However, I think I can give some sort of update.

School has been easier this semester yet it also has been more confusing.  I'm trying to prepare for leaving this college in a year which means that I am facing having to do a thesis and alike.  I don't think the thesis will be an enjoyable experience but it is unavoidable.  So, I am at the bottom of the ladder looking up wondering which direction I will climb towards... and I'm not to keen on starting to climb yet.  At least my grades are quite decent this semester.

Other than keeping up with clan work more or less, I have danced around the bush at attacking anything new.  I did get a Unix shell account with SDF (Super Dimension Fortress... yes, it is named after an Anime) so now I have two places to host a website if I ever get around to learning how to design one... or finding a tool to design one.  The second location is at http://gt24.paunix.org/ and is currently showing nothing interesting.  I did start poking at a strange blogging software called Blosxom but I'm not sure if I am going to do much with it.  Of course, SDF is a full fledged Unix host with program compilation support, a weird bulletin board, and all the fun text based program goodness you can expect from such a host.  I suppose it is a geeky hangout.

Out of all my friends, I know none which actively play games (other than I hear that somebody is getting near level 70 in World of Warcraft.. ;)).  I tried getting Oglie (girlfriend) involved in first person shooters but it is an uphill battle for her.  It certainly doesn't help that her laptop has difficulty drawing a 3d box much less anything more complex.  However, she is in the same gaming clan as I now doing forum administration work and otherwise reading and replying to threads.  Hopefully I'm not forcing her to try to adopt to something that she will never really like...

Otherwise, I have picked up a few more games... went through the Half Life 2 series, getting my butt kicked in Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat, and generally getting distracted by the clan I am in.  However, I tend to find new distractions all the time so my interests may change.  I don't forget about my prior activities though so I don't think I will stray too far from the clan's games.

Tomorrow I might drive halfway into PA for a random shopping trip (Oglie will love that) and otherwise I'm not sure what else I will do this spring break.  I might give some random folks a phone call (I do have Skype unlimited calling after all) just to say hi.  Hopefully they will drive up a conversation because I think I have became shy again!!  o_0

One last thing... I recently got a Nokia internet tablet (n800) and I am liking that device quite a bit.  It also doubles as a Skype phone so I can call when I find a wireless access point... although Oglie tends to use Skype more than I.  Second, I am going to upgrade my computer soon although I have absolutely no idea what to upgrade it to.  It isn't the best sign when your upgrade list consists of "get that neat case" and nothing else...  Some of my friends from the past knew about computer hardware but certainly my daily contacts of today know very little.  I suppose I have something new to look into.

That should be about it.  Despite my low post frequency, I do log into Live Journal from time to time to see what is going on.  To quote a Monty Python movie (perhaps not the best use of this quote...), "I'm not quite dead yet...".
