i have still have eight weeks left of summer, does that even make sense to anyone?
it's folk week right now! thousands and thousands of people have descended upon the quiet seaside town to partake in a variety of folky things! there is the crafts tent, poetry&book readings, morris, ceilidhs and various other dancing, hundreds and hundreds of bands including the awesome hullabaloo, performing at 'jazz on the jetty', er...what else, jam sessions, street entertainers, the torchlight procession that is almost wicker man-esque? and tons of workshops for poi, diabalo etc etc. too much stuff to name... oh, and the best thing: broadstairs completely scraps the open container drinking law so the thousands of people at the festival are normally walking around with a can of strongbow in one hand and a banjo in the other, for example. the best day of folk week is clearly wednesday with a spectacular fireworks display normally occuring after the fifth hundred beach party of the summer. so i'm excited that my REAL last official week in thanet this summer will be spent in broadstairs (oh but some bastard had stolen MY tree the other day!).
in other news, my bedroom will be painted blue courtesy of davide&toby. and i have two days left at work then i'm free.
