I arrived during a festival in which there was a tournament.
The festival serves an essential social function. It allows the release of tensions. It gives license to act in an unconstrained way. Thus it acts as a safety valve. Tension safely released, the attendees are more likely to resume lives full of boredom and desperation.
We Atreides made ourselves the centerpiece of any festival. All were consecrated to our name. This was a symptom of the egomaniacal miasma in which we found ourselves trapped.
But perhaps this festival will be different?
