I do! and WAIT this is super creepy and weird all of a sudden because I looked at your recent pictures on twitter and sdkfjhafkhjf UMMM I think we were in EAST 352 together last semester..! I was the chinese girl with straight bangs who slept in class a lot :( we both sat on the right side of the room?
I admire it because I seriously just sleep through all my classes. WORST STUDENT EVER. I'm doing a double major in east asian studies and english lit, what about you?
u2! are you done your culture reqs yet? I'm registered for china this semester but I'm trying to get into korea because I don't want to have early class, crying
ah okay i'm in u3 D: and yes i'm done, i took china and korea last semester (japan was a schedule conflict and also i didn't really take any classes on japan so it would have been usual) (although i didn't really take any classes on korea either so i suppose that was useless too). and ugh yeah my friend is in china, how early is it?? when i took it last year it was at like 11 :/
it's at 8:30 :( is korea really intense? I've heard great things about prof thomas but I dropped one of his courses last semester because it was like lots of presentations and things all up in my face. I hate talking in class :\
it wasn't too bad! i find him kind of offputting a lot of the time (he just like, has a weird attitude? like i think he is a nice enough guy but he just seems like a jerk when he talks sometimes, i don't know) but i liked the class. there were like discussion things and a final presentation though... but the discussions were in small groups and the presentations were scheduled outside of class for the most part (so when i did mine there were only like 5 ish people there). it was def more involved than china though, that class was just lectures + tests when i took it (it's a different prof now though right?).
OH MAN. I am actually so averse to being made to talk in class (like, participation is one thing, but presentations are serious dnw) that I'll probably stick with china ahaha :( it is a different prof, but I think the course is structured the same way? it's just quizzes/exams and she actually posts "study guides"!!! so maybe I don't have to drag myself out of bed at 7 anyway. 10000% worst student
YOU ARE LUCKY because the guy who used to teach it was a creep >:( and yeah i mean if you read the textbook you'll probably be fine...? IDK i am not a reading kind of person, i have to go to lectures or else i don't process any of it (i am seriously the most pathetic person, i have two classes at the same time this semester and it's stressing me out so badly because i hate missing class!!!), but hopefully it'll work out for you!!! 8:30 classes really are the wooooorst, AND I AM KIND OF A MORNING PERSON.
oh erghh. when I took japan the prof was kind of terrible but thankfully the course was really easy. I wish I'd gotten to take it with prof hurley though, she's supposed to be great. I totally do better too when I go to lectures, but sometimes I open my eyes and I'm just like "THIS IS A JOKE. I'M GOING BACK TO SLEEP." it's worse in huge lectures because there's no attendance mark ;_; I hope your conflicted courses work out okay though!!! mcgill scheduling is the most terrible :(
lol yes big classes are really bad, i texted through chinese culture and i usually try not to do that :/ we actually watched a documentary that was more interesting than the prof at one point, no lie. and ugh ty but there's really no way to make it work unfortunately, both my professors said it would be okay but i'm still stressed about it. mcgill really is awful!!! ALL OF THE CLASSES ARE AT THE SAME TIME, it's the worst!
