wedding planning... it starts!
Okay, so apparently, planning a wedding is a lot of work!
Michael and I have been looking at places to have the ceremony and the reception and I think we have decided on one. Food is insanely expensive! I think the cheapest entree on the menu is around $54 a person. However, the $54 would include the ceremony, dinner, and wedding cake (which also costs a bundle separate!) Then we have to look for photographers, videographers, florists, an officiant, wedding favors, a wedding dress, tuxedo, etc, etc, etc. I've been using theknot.com and it's been a big help, but still overwhelming. I'm glad Michael isn't afraid to plan everything with me. He's been wonderful.
I don't think my family or Michael's family will help out monetary wise, so it will be up to Michael and I to foot the bill. I think we can do it, but it would be nice to have some help. However, I think my aunt and uncle are thinking about helping us out if we want to honeymoon in Thailand, which would be nice.
I was a little frustrated with my family for not being more helpful or even seeming to care about the details of my wedding. If I brought something up they would be like, Oh, really? You're planning already? I always thought my mom would be really happy and wanting to help with my wedding, but she's been really aloof about the whole thing. Le sigh. I really do wish I had more help with all of this planning and more knowledge of who I should go for wedding things. None of my close friends have been through a wedding yet, so many are just as clueless as me. Who would have thought I would be one of the first to get married... not me! Haha.
Oh! But I do have my first bridesmaid! ALEXA! YAY! I have two more in mind but I haven't asked them yet.
Well, if any of you, livejournal friends, have any advice about weddings and planning or any good contacts for wedding vendors (photographers, etc.) definitely let me know!!!!! Wish me luck!
