Personality: Much like his father, Arman is concerned with appearance and public opinion and watches himself and his behaviour as best he can. He is polite, conservative and kind when outside of the castle, quick to smile and quick to listen, but also very firm when necessary, appearing somewhat more friendly and less snobbish than his father. In fact, he is too self-absorbed in his thoughts most of the time to concern himself with being snobbish. This makes him seem much more carefree than his father, which many forgive due to his age and position as crown prince. However, critics see it as a lack of dedication to his position, which he has, to some degree, encouraged. He remains mostly silent in the council room, listening with a supposed half-an-ear, though always discreetly watching his father and aunt and their dynamics. Much of his casual, friendly nature, however, covers up the crawling fear that threatens to paralyze him. Well versed in his family's history, official and otherwise, it is not hard to see what is going on, within and without. While some might say he is a fool for not seeing the dangers of his position, he is in reality acutely aware of them, to the point where he has waved aside the immediate necessity to marry, fearful even of the other noble families from which he would be encouraged to take his bride from. Not only, he realizes, because of what they could do to his family, but also because of what his family could do to theirs. While he seems relaxed, in reality he never really relaxes. In fact, increasingly he feels that he doesn't quite know what he feels, and his newest fear is that he will lose himself under all the parts he's been playing. The closest he gets to relaxing is with his family, particularly Lusine. Instead of acting as though everything is fine, he can simply push it aside and focus on being her elder brother. With his father, he is respectful and at times gentle, never quite able to forget the heartbroken man at his mother's deathbed. Sevda he indulges as best he can, though he feels quite distant from her, not uncommon given the distance put between them due to his training and education. And while he suspects his aunt of many things, he knows she is still a great woman, and often asks her opinion on things in order to see situations from as many sides as possible. And if in nothing else, she is brutally honest in her swordplay, so while it might mean cuts and bruises, he will always follow through on any spar he asks of her without complaint of the consequences afterwards. After all, no man will be easy on him if worse comes to worst. When it comes to the Citadel and the Golden Hour, again he is divided in his loyalties. He shares his father's fascination with what they Golden Hour has accomplished, though he has not come to the conclusion that they might be what will tip the scales in future conflict, and his uncertainty of the Others that have nearly invaded the city. However, raised with faith, particularly through his aunt, has made it hard for him not to see what good such a thing might do for Balfour, if tempered. The ideals are good, but many followers, he finds, are uneducated, and educated or not, there are a few fanatics too many amongst the believers. Still, aware it will help keep the peace, he visits the Citadel often, usually in the company of his aunt, particularly on important holidays. If he has shown interest in either sex, he has made no mention of it. Increasingly he feels as though he is playing a part, which disturbs him greatly.
Appearance: Arman is not a bad looking young man. While he is thin like his father, it is not in a sickly way and simply a feature of youth, given all the food he eats. His hair is darker in the wintertime, more of a reddish hue, but in the hotter months with greater sunshine it brightens up and seems more blonde-ish. One can pick and choose traits from his mother and father, though his facial structure does seem to mirror more his father's, what with his thin nose and blush-grey puppy-dog eyes. He does not, however, give off the same sense of physical weakness as his father. He stands with a straight back and even shoulders and does not duck his head quite so much as his father does, though he does avoid the eyes of others more often than not. He has not quite grown into his body yet given some lankiness still in his frame, but his fine bone structure is evident in his long-fingered hands. He is quite expressive with his eyebrows, particularly when he is in a good mood. His ears are a little overlarge, but portraits of his great-grandfather show it is only a recessive trait in their bloodline, and thankfully not passed on to his sisters. He does his best to keep clean-shaven, but his hair is another matter and though it is not usually overly long, does seem to have a mind of its own, particularly since he doesn't care to slick it down. As he grows older his facial features seem to be filling out some, not so thin and effeminate, particularly in the jaw. Dress-wise he is immaculate and verging on fashionable, though never to the sometimes extreme degree of some of his fellows. He prefers muted colours and prefers to stand out more by his carriage than his clothes. Due to the time he spends outdoors compared to his father and Lusine, his skin can be considered more fair instead of pale, though it still burns easily, and his freckles are most prominent in the summertime. Like his father he could be considered homely, but his friendliness endears him more naturally to women both young and old.
Languages Known: English, French, Dutch, Italian, Latin, working on his Spanish, considering German. Skills: Fencing, swordplay, horseback riding, languages, most of his studies, diplomacy Strengths: Soothing riled feelings, an inquisitive nature, devil's advocate- can see the upside to most situations. Fast learner. Weaknesses: Indecisive as to his loyalties. Keeps people at an emotional distance more and more the older he gets. Has covered his own feelings so often he isn't quite sure what they are anymore. Also, burns in the sun like a bitch. (Proof of his true Barqhuite heritage.)
