Using the dead boy’s appearance as a human guise, he traveled with the flow of the unknown force calling to him. Tyrol is where he found it. Niran has found the Golden Hour to be accepting and accommodating, though he doesn’t quite know what he’s supposed to do now. A capital city where injustices are part of the morning schedule is no place for a sensitive beast like him. Anchored to Tyrol by the power of Belief, Niran has only become sadder and quieter.

As the city leaves an undesirable taste in his mouth, Niran will find any excuse he can not to leave the walls of the Golden Hour. However, he’s smart enough to know when his excuses have run out, and will accompany people on errands if they need it.. and will try to find every possible way to stay quiet. It is his meek demeanour and clinginess to those he travels outside with that have led some members of the public to think unsavoury things about his place in the Golden Hour.

While he remains a willing test subject, he spends the rest of his time winding his ways through the halls of the Golden Hour and lounging about. A natural hot spring housed in the bowels of the building is one of his favourite haunts, where he also serves as excellent repellent for neophytes thinking to shirk their duties for a raunchier time. He does see the value in making himself more approachable to humans, and will usually test and interview as a human, or partly so. The fact that English is a second language makes him shy about speaking, the fact that his serpent’s tongue lengthensss certain soundsss even moreso.

He is also known to slither around the complex as a smaller snake and coil himself on desks near windows to soak up the sun, or crawl beneath seat cushions for warmth. Woe betide the poor soul who doesn’t check before he sits - he takes great offense to being squished.

Personality: While Niran would love to be a completely solitary being, the fact he’s a stranger in a strange land forces him not to be. He tries to be genial to all of the Golden Hour and he does have his favourites, though he’s more a listener than a talker. Talking about his home and origin is an obvious awkward subject, because it’s clear he misses his family but he’d be miserable not being in Tyrol. When the spotlight is not on him, he’s more relaxed. His thirst for knowledge is rivaled by his love of water - he found books dissolve rather quickly - but he’s happy to be taught and a tail can often be seen swishing from the rafters when someone lectures on their new big discovery.

Confrontation is also low on his list in all cases, and he would rather try to mediate between parties than see them fight or defer to someone else’s wants. He’d rather no one ever fight. Ever. Most of the slights against him (sans being sat upon) he internalises. He’s also a bit of an emotional vampire in the way that he’s happiest whenever everyone around him appears to be the same. Even if it is an illusion, as long as nothing breaks the surface tension he is totally cool going on pretending some catty bitches don’t hate each other.

Personality Keywords: shy, genial, reserved, mopey, lazy, skittish, meek

Appearance: As a human, Niran is pretty nondescript. Scruffy reddish-brown hair and brown eyes set with thick brows aren’t much to look at, though some may find the delicate bone structure of his face appealing and bird-like. Because his torso is that of a fisherman’s son, his chest and arms are muscled but lean from rowing, looking almost unnatural compared to the scrawny legs that complete him. For someone who works to ingratiate himself, he holds no love for human modesty or garb. His clothes are usually large and ill fitting without any regard to if it matches or not, though he is always open to suggestions to people who take him in hand about dressing.

As a full naga, he is a large, long snake-like creature. Deep brown and green scales cover him from end to end, save for a lighter, banded underbelly. His head comes to almost a strange mix of human and serpent features with two yellow eyes, a slitted nose and mouth and a long, flicking tongue.

Sometimes Niran can be found in a mix of both forms, where human meets serpent at the torso. This is always for the benefit of his peers and he will even clothe his upper body upon request, though it feels very ridiculous to him to have a long snake’s tail twitching out of the end of his shirt.
