Personality: Subtlety is not in Amelia's vocabulary and she does nothing by halves. If some personalities could be described as fine strokes on a canvas, Amelia's would be paint splashed on a wall. Her moods can shift without warning, but they are always obvious.
She is friendly and outgoing, an extrovert who goes off to find people to bother when she's bored. She'd rather strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger than read a book. Unfortunately for those perfect strangers, Amelia is capable of carrying an entire conversation by herself for hours. She tells meandering stories full of pointless details, and even her genuinely funny anecdotes completely lose the punchline in a web of unrelated digressions. She talks in a stream of consciousness.
She's very intelligent, but lacks common sense. Her godfather politely puts it as, "She is smart. When she wants to be." She's bored by subjects not in her field and has probably forgotten all the stuff she's learned on those topics. While she's very capable of deep thinking and logical reasoning, you'd never know it because she wastes so much breath on cockamamie theories with no basis in logic. Inventions aren't working? ZOMBIE GOBLINS ARE SABOTAGING YOU CONSTANTLY. Keep losing books? THEY'RE COMING ALIVE AND FLYING AWAY TO TURN PEOPLE INTO BOOK VAMPIRES.
She's very stubborn, headstrong, and opinionated, and doesn't shy away from confrontation. Her biggest problem by far is that she doesn't think before opening her mouth and doesn't consider the consequences of her actions. Add to this a quick, explosive temper and you have a recipe for disaster. The good thing is that she doesn't hold grudges--well, unless you hurt the people she cares about instead of her. Then it's grudge-city, population you.
If you can get past how annoying she is, you'll find she is a genuinely nice person who cares deeply about people. She's always willing to help out.
Appearance: Amelia's most notable physical trait is her wavy copper-red hair, shoulder-blade length but usually worn up as a matter of course. She doesn't have any especially strong feelings on it. Some people make fun of it, some people seem to really like it, whatever you guys it's just hair, it's not mysterious and crazy just cuz it's red! She has finely arched eyebrows over brown eyes, full lips, and a heart-shaped face. She also has a pale complexion and burns easily.
She is on the tall side for a woman, standing at 5'7", and rarely wears flat shoes. Her body is pear-shaped, with a small bust and wide hips. She tries to dress to de-emphasize her hips, because she is a little self-conscious about them (especially because wide hips is a sign of fertility and she'd rather people not notice that).
Languages Known: English (literate), can say "hello, how are you, my name is" in Hindustani thanks to her godfather and can recognize Devanagari script but can't read it. Skills: Good with machines and numbers, knows her way around a fight thanks to Uncle Ravi and is decent with a sword (though she'd never beat anybody with formal training without a lot of luck on her side). Strengths: Machines!, her willingness to stand up for and defend people, and her ability to befriend ANYBODY (willing to put up with her). Weaknesses: Being really fucking annoying. Not knowing when to drop an argument or how to pick her battles, her stubbornness and lack of common sense, and not thinking before she speaks.
Minor retcon! Amelia was 5 when her Uncle Ravi got married (so it wasn't his "new" wife when she moved in) and said wife was 9 years older than her instead of "a few."
