My attempt at baking.

I decided today to try and make Mrs. Schmiedekamp's Forgotten Cookies. Despite the recipe being in American units of measure I was able to approximate the amounts needed and the mixture turned out perfectly. Including making my own chocolate chips out of good British chocolate. The problem of course was in the baking. I got the heat right, and things were going very well, until I left it alone for 5 minutes to check up on a download, came back and they were a blackened, charred, smoking, mess. Out of the dozen made, the tops of four cookies were still edible. I gave them to the family to eat, and they all agreed that it would be very tasty if they weren’t burnt. So I must try again, perhaps a bit later in the week.

In other news I have spent most of the day working on the wedding list and registering us at some stores so that the list can be easily managed online. It has gone up on the website, but will probably require a bit more tweaking. Most importantly Andy needs to give it a look though to make sure we haven’t missed anything. I’m sure there are things we need that I have forgotten to add. Ah well. I’m sure I’ll get it all sorted in time for the invitations to be sent out. Hopefully I can get the invitations finished by the end of the holidays.

Tomorrow we are going to Darlington. After Christmas sales are rather fun, particularly at the book shops. You can never have too many books.
