Lots done and lots to do.

Odd, the menues on my journal are all messed about. And I cannot seem to fix it. Perhaps it was because for a few hours my paid account ran out. Ah well.
In other news Chapter 1 is finished. I have a two week extention for my dissertation. Andy and I bought a mandolin. And I have officially moved into my room here. So now the goal is to finish up chapter 4 this week. Or at least finish as much as possible on it.
At the moment thought I am distracted by th new shiney. I am finding a slight problem with the tailpiece for the mandolin. It keeps falling off. There have been some suggestions of putting piece of felt in the tailpiece to help prevent buzzing of the strings, but I have heard nothing about keeping it on. Perhaps I should try the felt thing. We shall see. It's got a lovely sound to it. The finish is not perfect, but it gives it character. I am now bidding on another one that Andy's parents want to get for his brother Robin. If that ones sounds better, we might switch it out with this one. So we shall see.
I am finding it harder to play than the violin. The picking thing is a bit confusing. I suspose it will come with practice. It's interesting to see the different aproaches to it that I have from Andy. I'm looking at it from a violinist's perspective, and he's looking at it from a gutarist's perspective. Therefore we have two different playing styles and I am kind of jelous at his command of the upper areas of the finger board and his ability to use the plectrum properly. But then again, I can actually play proper songs on it given that the tuning is the same as a violin. They would just sound better if I could get the hang of the picking.

Right, well, I think I should be getting back to work. I must try and at least sort out a plan for chapter 4 today. I think I should be able to do at least that, preferably more.
