Wow...I never post

But I feel like I should get in the habit, given my recent affection for bloggers and new media (particularly in the political arena). I don't have anything terribly insightful, but here goes:

Today, I listened to Rod Blagojavich's press conference, where he declared his innocence and his determination to "fight, fight, fight." It was a wonderful piece of political theater -- so ludicrous that even the movies or West Wing would think it to implausible. This guy (accused of trying to sell Obama's senate seat) first comes to the stage sounding slightly like a gangster (just very slangy). Then he proceeds to quote Kipling's poem "If": "if you can keep your head when those around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you...", which is unbelievable and literary and laughably above-it-all from the guy who wanted to sell a seat because it was "f---ing gold". But as he continued to speak, I definitely saw how he got elected. If I didn't know the back story, I would even want to campaign for this guy...frightening
