Anything To Make A Quick Buck

>>>>SIGN HERE! SIGN HERE!<<<< Update!  The app is gone!!!!

The picture associated with this pathetic excuse for an app is oddly striking, and it offends me almost as much as the bogus questions it asks. We see a woman, assumed to be a mother, staring solemnly into space, as if she was uncertain about her future. Exactly what is she so worried about? Whether or not her son is gay.

This Android application asks twenty questions regarding 'your son' (I guess they don't care if your daughter is gay). These questions range from "Does he like divas? (Madonna, Britney Spears)" to "Does he like football?" to "Does he have a complicated relationship with his father" to, my favorite, "Before he was born, did you wish for a girl?".

If you complete this survey, which is obviously targeting bigots, the results are even worse.

A writer on GadgetBox gave two possible results:

Your son is a normal young man: modern and concerned about taking care of himself assuming some feminine habits while maintaing his attraction to girls. However, he may have already had some homosexual experiences with his best friend. These things happen. It is more and more usual in these times to maximize pleasures without taboo.

And another:

Don't worry, your son is not gay. Get ready to become a mother-in-law! You'll soon have to be accepted by your future daughter-in-law. There's a great chance that you'll become a grandmother with all the pleasures that this brings.

So, mothers should worry if their son is gay, being straight is 'normal', and not only can this app tell if your son is gay, but it can also tell you when you'll be having grandchildren!

Oh, spare me.

As AllOut put it: We can't know whether this app is meant to be serious or just a joke, but circulating these ideas far and wide is dangerous.  If it's serious, the app is belittling and misleading.  If it's a joke, it's made at the expense of millions of kids trying to just be who they are - whether or not he "reads the sports page" or "takes a long time to do his hair".

Here's a better idea, moms: if you're so paranoid about your son's sexual orientation, ask him about it yourself, at least indirectly, and do it without the ridiculous feminine stereotypes!!!

Fifty-thousand people are needed to sign AllOut's petition before they attempt to tell Android (who has supported LGBT before) to pull the plug on this app. About thiry-five thousand have already signed, including me. Take five seconds out of your day if you can, and PLEASE SIGN. <<

gay gay gay gay yay!, get off your soapbox, people are ridiculous
