It's been quite the week so far.
Monday was awful; by far the worst day I've had in a long time. Everything that could have gone wrong that day pretty much did. I find myself in a strange place where finally allowing myself to express my anger has made it come easier sometimes, which is strange to me, as I've never been a particularly easily-angered person.
My knuckles are still bruised from punching my front door after getting into it with my dad about something completely asinine and irrelevant. This is the second time in two months that this has happened (though the first time was over something more relevant with my mom). I get the sense that this house is no longer the healthiest environment for me.
I feel like it's starting to bring out the worst in me.
However, the rest of my week has been much better, fortunately. I started at Applebee's last Wednesday. I really like the people I work with so far, and the assistant manager Dave is great. The head honcho, Kathy, is like the spitting image of my old manager from Wendy's: a stern and easily pissed off hard-ass, but overall a nice person who seems to genuinely give a damn about her employees.
I must say, I truly have an entirely new respect for people who wait tables. It is A LOT of stuff to keep track of, holy fuck. I was put on my own tables for the first time yesterday during the afternoon (when it's much slower than lunch or dinner) and at the busiest point I had four tables, which was surprisingly difficult. I did pretty well, though, and Kathy said that four was a lot for someone as new as me to handle. I think I've done a pretty good job of proving my worth to her thus far. On my last day of training I had to take a multiple choice final that I'd been given a study guide for. It was three different packets, all of which were 3-4 pages long (Applebee's is hardcore!). I filled them out in about five minutes and then walked over to Kathy. She asked me if I had a question and I just said "Oh, no... I'm done."
".... You're done? ... Seriously?"
"Uh, yeah, unless there's something I missed."
"I... well... let me go get the answer key."
Then she kept calling me smart for the rest of the day, haha. So I seem to be doing fairly well so far.
Anyhow, I've been meaning to post these pictures for quite a while:
Exhibit A: Awful Floral Wallpaper.
Paired with outdated lighting.
What can I say? I like to score.
Stripped!
Now for the wall texture application. Put on that safety mask, because it's bad for your lungs!
Texture.
Almost there!
FINAL PRODUCT:
Also, three fuckin cheers for Livejournal; It's remarkable how many cool people I've met through this.
