A sort of fusion of Brokeback Mountain and The Social Network that is somehow not entirely similar to either. Or, in other words: an AU where Mark and Eduardo meet the summer before their senior year in high school and start a secret and ill-advised affair.

Author's Notes: Oh, WOW. I can't believe this is finally over!!! Someone on the kinkmeme requested Brokeback Mountain, The Social Network-style. Well, since I am absolutely obsessed with Brokeback Mountain and have been since I was thirteen, I had no choice but to fill it. Three months and nearly 50,000 words later, here we are!! I seriously cannot believe how long this is. You have to understand, I didn't even used to like READING long fics and when it comes to writing, the longest I've ever written is less than 1/10th of this. So, WOW.
But ALL the credit for this goes to all the AMAZING commenters on the kinkmeme, without whom I never could have finished. I said it over there, but you guys are seriously wonderful. Every single lovely comment I got made me grin endlessly and inspired me to keep going with the story. THIS FANDOM ROCKS!!!!
Regarding the crossover aspect: hm, this ended up kind of weird because it is a TSN fic inspired by BBM that follows the plotline of neither. I guess my best explanation is, it takes characters and some plots from TSN and is inspired by certain themes, scenes, and lines from Brokeback Mountain. Haha, I hope that makes sense.
Oh, and the title comes from this exchange in Brokeback Mountain:
Jack: Once in a while. Every four fuckin' years?
Ennis: If you can't fix it, Jack, you gotta stand it.
Jack: For how long?
Ennis: For as long as we can ride it. There ain't no reins on this one.
