*The guards scatter, moving around him with hasty speed to obey Wolfram’s orders. His heart jumps with every unsteady, wavering movement of Wolfram’s body and he wonders how the hell the boy is even on standing, let alone bossing men nearly twice his height around as if they were children.*
*When Wolfram’s attention is finally on him, throwing several imploring, nearly pleading questions at him, he can only see in his imagination Wolfram crumpling to the floor in a dead faint and it spurs him to Wolfram’s side.*
Sit down *He tries to keep his voice level and calm, a soothing tone that won’t infuriate Wolfram’s fragile temper. If there is one thing he’s learned, its that the more tired, the more worried, the more stressed out that Wolfram is, the more hair-trigger like that famous temper gets. So he takes Wolfram’s fidgety hand and holds it against his chest, his other arm wrapping around Wolfram’s waist from behind to hold the boy up*
Sit down before you fall over. *He tugs a little, indicating the Wolfram should move to the floor with him. That way of Wolfram does black out, he’ll be right there to catch him without having to worry about Wolfram hitting his head on the floor*
*He looks over at the fountain, checking Wolfram’s story for himself. The girls certainly aren’t there, but he doesn’t feel the sharp twist in his stomach that makes him just know that there’s something wrong.*
I’m sure the girls are fine. They didn’t get hurt from the fire, and it didn’t make its way this far out. *He tries to adjust Wolfram with subtle nudges with his hands, getting Wolfram to move by choice rather than pulling or pushing him into a more comfortable position. His poor fiancé is practically shaking with exhaustion and he can’t help but feel that he must be responsible for it.*
Relax, it’s going to be okay. We’ll find them, I promise.
::It's sheer stubborn nature that keeps him standing, and for a moment he bristles at Yuuri's suggestion.:: I don't need... ::But then the boy has hold of his hand, an arm around his waist, and Yuuri's voice is soft and compelling next to his ear. Without realizing what he's doing, he lets his knees fold, and they're both on the ground. For a moment his head swims, the short naps he's managed to to snatch not enough to lighten the exhaustion of recent stresses. Yuuri's hands are there to steady him, gently reassuring.::
::The words Yuuri speaks come as comfort, and though he still wants to start searching himself he can't seem to make his legs willing to push him upright again. He settles against Yuuri, tugging ineffectually at the fabric of the robe when it tangles awkwardly around his knees. His head dips of it's own accord, his temple coming to rest lightly on Yuuri's shoulder.::
We'll find them, and then everything will be okay. ::He doesn't sound quite like he believes it, but he's obviously somewhat calmer now. There's still a faintly frantic gleam in his eyes, but his shivering is easing off to sporadic tremors.:: You really think they're safe? If.. If they.. ::Tension sets into his muscles again as his voices dies out.::
Shh *he smoothes his hand gently down Wolfram’s neck, laying his head against Wolfram’s and breathing in deeply* They are two very smart girls. They will take care of each other and we will find them, safe and sound. *he laughs softly, hugging Wolfram against him* You’ve got half the castle guards in a frenzy, looking for them. Even if they are playing hide and seek, someone will find them.
And then, they will bring them to us and we’ll say, ‘Girls, you had us so worried, don’t ever scare us like that again.’ Then we’ll pick them up and take them to their room, because its far to late for little girls to be up and whisper ‘goodnight’ as we tuck them in and wish them pleasant dreams.
*He continues playing with Wolfram’s hair, touching face, neck, and shoulder in a gentle, calming rhythm. He idly wonders if he could lift Wolfram if the boy fell asleep and carry Wolfram all the way back to their room by himself. He could just let Wolfram sleep where they sat, but he doubted it would be the most comfortable even with him acting as a resting post.*
::His arms slide slowly around Yuuri, giving one final long shiver before the last of the tension flows out of him under Yuuri's touch. He nods along as Yuuri speaks, knowing everything the other boy says is the truth and it's possible that his panic has no cause.::
You're worried? You seem so.. calm. ::He smiles at the thought of them tucking the girls in, enjoying the way Yuuri's hands play over him. He's silent a minute after Yuuri finishes, eyes heavy with sleep. The peace is short lived, and he forces his eyes open, lifting his head to look at Yuuri, a slight unhappiness marking his expression.:: I trust you.
But what then? What happens after we tuck them in and wish them goodnight? ::He lifts one hand, letting his fingertips slide along Yuuri's cheek, then rise to brush hair back from the other boy's forehead.:: What do we do after that?
Of course I’m worried *he admonishes softly* But I also know our girls and I know that we have good people looking for them and I know we will find them. *He combs his fingers through Wolfram’s hair leisurely, soothing out the tangles*
And after that? *He knows what they really must do is have another talk about the fight in the kitchen. But it will be different this time. It’s in his nature to not hold anything against people, and he’s already forgiven Wolfram’s rash actions that certainly weren’t maliciously intended. He just needs to understand why now so that it can be put behind them. But there is no reason to bring that up now, not with Wolfram being all warm and snuggly.*
Then we get you to bed. Lots of sleep, so you can heal. *He nods empathetically* Everything looks better in the morning with a fresh outlook. I'll say 'wow, what a beautiful morning!' And you'll be all 'it's morning, Wimp. What's so wonderful about that?' and then roll over and bury your head in the pillows. *He laughs softly, fondly* You are not a morning person, but I don’t mind.
::He knows his hair must be gritty with soot and dirt, and he wants to object to Yuuri's fingers combing through it, but he can't manage anything more than a sigh. A soft, spiteful voice in his head tells him to enjoy this while he can because once the crisis is over Yuuri will again be nothing but angry with him. His words, when they come, are a sleepy murmur.:: It isn't normal to be so cheerful in the morning, wimp. ::For a fleeting instant he smiles, and it seems like he'll say more but there's the sudden sound of footsteps and one of the guards comes into sight.::
Greta has been found, sir. ::The man salutes, carefully keeping his gaze off to one side. He blinks, then tries to push himself up to standing, stumbling a bit on the hem of the robe he'd taken earlier. He's too tired to disguise the relief in his eyes or the faint smile that curls his lips and he tugs at Yuuri's arm even as he staggers.:: You were right. Come on, let's find out what happened.
[OOC: I'd just decided to do the same thing. You posted while I was writing mine. I've deleted and reposted under yours. Great Evil minds think alike, eh? XD]
